Brad "The "Big Pig"  Able (right), sergeant-at-arms of the West Chester Club, is declared winner of the "Pulled Pork Showdown," last week by host Bill Winters,  beating out five other competitors. Despite  rainy, dreary weather, Rotarians, some with family members and friends, descended on Bill and Dorene Winters home for the delicious lunch, relegated to the roomy porch rather than relaxing in lawn chairs as planned.

Bill "Dr. Squealgood" Friedmann, came in second place, and President Bob "Hunk--A-Hunk of Burning Rub" Rogers, finished third. Other competitors with delicious pulled pork variations were Don "Boss Hog" Kohler, Jim "The Meat Master" Magee, and Neil "The Porkasauras" Gutekunst. Each competitor donated his pork, as well as a delicious side dish. Mark Berenato donated Rita's Water Ice to top off the flavorful food.

The event was a fundraiser for Project Healing Waters, a program that helps veterans by engaging them in fly fishing. Rotarians generously donated nearly $2,000 to the project, by "buying" their lunch and contributing to a raffle. Members of Project Healing Waters offered some fly fishing tips on the lawn, despite the rain. The competition was such a success, many want to make it an annual event.
