Saloon 151 Whiskey Bar and Grill won first place in the Restaurant Division for the second year in a row, AND also took home first place in the the People's Choice Award with their "Bootleg Chili!" The large chili trophy will remain on display in their restaurant this year, identifying them again as a top winner in the 17th Annual Rotary Club of West Chester Chili Cook-off. Second place in People's Choice went to the Parrot Troopers, who have loyally participated and humored chili-goers for many years. This year they gave up their usual tropical garb for traditional Irish green, and provided "Luck O' the Parrot  Chili' to hungry chili lovers. Rotarian and new CEO of the Chester Co. Council, Boy Scouts of America, Jeff Spencer, guided the Scouts to third place in the People's Choice competition, with "Campfire Chicken Chili," as well as second place in the Non-profit Organization Division! Danielle Mortimer could hardly contain her excitement when her company, SERVPRO of West Chester, claimed third place in the Business Division with their "SERVPRO Fire and Smoke Chili." And no food event would be complete without the succulent contribution of Rotarian Melissa Baxter, who took third place with "Melissa Baxter's Award Winning Chili" in the Hometown/Volunteer/Rotary Club Division. It was a perfect day for family fun, with kids crowding into the KID ZONE, again under the watchful eyes of Christine Wildauer and Winnie Stroup, and parents, teens, and college students, along with individuals from far and near noshing on chili, as well as other treats provided by the 45 vendors, including interesting wares offered by crafts people. What a delicious way to spend an autumn afternoon!
