How Do We Serve?
The Rotary Club of West Chester's large membership is engaged throughout the year in vocational, community and world service. Some major activities are:
- Organizing and hosting the popular, community-based West Chester Rotary Chili Cook-off each fall as a means to raise funds for local and international needy projects.
- Annual Fruit sale to raise funds for a selected non-profit charitable organization.
- Operation Warm Coats drive that provides West Chester Area School District Children in need with warm winter coats.
- Rotary Readers program where dozens of club members read to area elementary school children twice a month throughout the school year. We end each school year by presenting the children with their first, brand-new dictionary.
- Rotary Youth Exchange which brings foreign students to the area and sends two local high school students to foreign countries, each for a year, to build world peace and understanding.
- Contribute generously to Rotary Foundation - eradicating polio worldwide and other worthwhile world service programs. Click here for latest News Releases from Rotary International
In addition to these major events we strive to perform a local service project each month such as:
- Brandywine River Clean Up Service Project
- Sponsor and organize the veterans and their young families that rode in the Welcome Home Veterans float in the Annual Greater West Chester Chamber's Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade
- Support the Stockings for Soldiers holiday campaign through a collection of items, donations and sewn stockings
- August Backpack Food Drive supporting the Chester County Food Bank
- Provide volunteers for the annual Salvation Army Ringing of the Bells December
