“Successful, fun, memorable, amazing!” said President Kyle commenting on our club’s   Designer Bag Bingo held recently at the West Chester Area Senior Center.

Over 150 people, a complete sellout of Rotary members, along with their families and friends, even some members from other West Chester Rotary clubs, were welcomed by Kyle to enjoy an evening of togetherness and fun while wining, dining and playing bingo. The event was made very entertaining by Jordan Johnson, our bingo caller from JEJ Entertainment, and our own Rita “Vanna White” Brouwer-Ancher, who modeled the designer handbags.
In addition to the lovely designer bags, there was a 50/50 drawing, and 24 beautiful raffle baskets full of items donated by our club members. Basket themes included a lottery tree, coffees, teas, children’s books, dining around West Chester, theater nights and more. We also received a raffle basket from Nothing Bundt Cakes full of gift certificates.

Businesses that provided desserts for our enjoyment included Arianna’s, Bakers of Buffington, Beiler’s, Dia Doce, Jenna’sTreats, LaBaguette, Rose’s Little Donuts, and Yori’s Bakery. Some leftover desserts were left for Senior Center members, and some donated to Safe Harbor.

Organized by Katie Martin, a large number of members helped out, many serving on more than one committee, including Sue Casso, Howard Sundwall, Steve Brown, Steve Bayles, Christine Wildauer, Glen Sweet, Laura Aloisio, Phyllis Dunn, Jeff Cantwell, Randy Lindel, Sue Flynn, Susan Shirley, Anne Driscoll, Patty Jefferis, Joanne Tadeo and Diana Liberi.

Special thanks go to Senior Center staff, Jessica Tipton and Leah Reynolds (she’s a new member of our Rotary!) for their assistance in procuring volunteers and planning for our successful event.

The event raised over $20,000 for philanthropic and club projects, and was so successful that some folks have mentioned we may want to make this an annual event!
