Rotarian and Salvation Army Major Gerald Morgan expressed his heartfelt appreciation to fellow Rotarians for their immediate response with a $1,500 donation when the Salvation Army's walk-in freezer recently went out. Turkeys and other foods, valued at between $7,000 and $10,000 and designated for needy families during the holidays, went bad before the staff realized the freezer had gone off. Apparently the new freezer lacked an alarm system. The Army provides 10 days worth of food to needy families during the holidays. Although the entire West Chester community responded with generous food and financial donations, Major Morgan has no idea yet what it has cost to replace all the food lost.
