Rotarians helping with cleanup at Marshall Square Park has been an annual activity of our club for many years. This year, due to the diligence of one of our newer members, Tom Rowland, we recruited several West Chester University (WCU) students to help us.
Tom contacted Jennifer Ross Long at the WCU Career Development Center, who connected Tom with Rita Patel Eng, director of the WCU Center for Community Engagement. “Dr. Patel did most of the footwork and marketing for the students to attend,” Tom reports, considering himself “the recruiter who recruited the recruiter.”

“It was a large team effort,” added Tom. “Other Rotarians helped me out as well.” In addition to their help, what a great way to connect with WCU students, introduce them to Rotary and Rotarians, and perhaps even look ahead to recruiting them to join Rotary in the future! We have a number of former WCU students who have joined our club over the years.

One of the students even took the interesting photos of the activity, for which we thank him/her. And, President Kyle even remarked how nice the Rotarian at Work shirts looked.
