Chester County Rotarians recently rappelled to raise funds for the Philadelphia Outward Bound School (POBS) program. Charles Streitwieser, strapped in rappelling gear, his son Charlie, along with Michael Karwic, represented our club and participated in a recent event. Along with Rotarians form the Sunrise and Passport clubs, and two honorary Rotarians, they rappelled off a 30-story building at 2 Commerce Square in Philadelphia. Members of our club have participated previously in these rappelling events.POBS, founded 30 years ago, is one of nine Outward Bound Schools in the United Sates. It is a non-profit, experiential education organization that serves people of all ages and backgrounds through active learning expeditions that inspire character development, self-discovery and service, both in and out of the classroom. It focuses on group dynamics and development; however, it can be a very personal experience. By conquering their own challenges, participants discover their true potential, and realize they are capable of more than they ever imagined.
Dennis Wallace of the Sunrise Rotary who has promoted this event for a number of years, reports that supporters of this particular
